Bio and Mission Statement
Tibetan Tea’s business model is to become a fundraising powerhouse for the most downtrodden and vulnerable: children and animals. This mission is born from the personal experiences of Tibetan Tea’s owner, Penny Stafford. As a child she knew an abusive home life. While still young, her parents and sister died, leaving her and another sister on their own. After years of struggling, not just for survival, but to make a better life, she learned the importance of hard work and self-respect.
All of the suffering and trauma gave Penny her fight. “I know what it feels like to be unloved, treated with contempt and viewed as having no value. I find it deeply disturbing to know that similar horrific situations exists everywhere, everyday. Whether a child, a refugee, a pit bull or feral cat, it is my life commitment to give voice to those silently suffering. To give them the dignity they deserve and to personally fight for their discarded souls. “
Penny’s greatest love and passion is the care of her animals. Her home is shared with dogs and cats that had little chance of adoption. Pit bulls too difficult to work with, cats too sick for treatment. “I’ll let other people take the easy cases. I feel so much more for the hopeless ones, because that is what I came from. Hopelessness. But, I know first hand that the hopeless are easily transformed by respect, love and responsible care.”
